 Purpose

Receive concentrated and comprehensive training in the theory and practice of environmental auditing. Gain a practical understanding of the responsibilities of an Environmental Auditor, and the techniques and methodologies required to effectively audit an Environmental Management System. Day one to two:


  1. Introduction to Environmental Auditing
  2. Environmental Principles
  3. Environmental Law and Regulation
  4. Environmental Risk Assessment and Control Technologies
  5. ISO 14001:2004

Day three to five:


  1. ISO 19011 Overview
  2. Managing an Audit Program
  3. Audit Activities
  4. Conducting On-Site Audit Activities
  5. Reporting on the Audit

 Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course participants should be able to:
  1. Understand the application of environmental management principles;
  2. Understand the application of environmental science and technology;
  3. Understand the application of environmental systems to different operational processes;
  4. Assess the risk of significant environmental impacts and activities identified in the context of the organisation’s EMS management system;
  5. Assess the effectiveness of methodologies to control environmental hazards;
  6. Assess the EMS roles and responsibilities within the context of the organisational environment;
  7. Determine the adequacy and effectiveness of the EMS;
  8. Demonstrate the processes involved with managing audit programs, initiating an audit, preparing for an audit, conducting on-site audit activities, reporting on audit findings and conducting post-audit activities;
  9. Outline the personal and interpersonal skills required to conduct a management systems audit; and
  10. Demonstrate the appropriate oral, written and non-verbal communication techniques that are desirable for lead management systems auditors.

 International Scope

This course has been delivered throughout the world and is regarded internationally as a high level educational program. Its training program includes the very latest international information and techniques. The course makes extensive use of case studies, team analysis and group discussions as well as a solid teaching program.

 Achievement

Upon completion of this course and daily class assessment participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the following four units that contribute to the BSB51607 Diploma of Quality Auditing:

  1. BSBAUD501B Initiate a quality audit
  2. BSBAUD503B Lead a quality audit
  3. BSBAUD504B Report on a quality audit
  4. BSBAUD402B Participate in a Quality Audit

    Participants will also be issued with a Certificate of Attainment for the internationally recognised RABQSA competency units:

  5. RABQSA AU: Management Systems Auditing
  6. RABQSA TL: Leading Management Systems Audit Teams
  7. RABQSA EM: Environmental Management Systems


This course is certified under the RABQSA International Training Provider Examination Certification Scheme for environmental management system auditors and will enable successful participants to apply to RABQSA International for certification as a provisional auditor.
